Abstract
Quality indicators zijn ‘hot’ in accountancyland en staan hoog op de agenda van wetenschappers, regelgevers en accountantsorganisaties. Audit Quality Indicators (AQI’s) worden mode binnen het accountantsberoep. Sinds de boekhoudschandalen en de voortdurende stroom aan publicaties van regulators die aangeven dat de audit quality onder de maat is, is de zoektocht begonnen om de kern van audit quality te begrijpen en te beheersen. Ook de wetenschap is meer en meer geïnteresseerd in dit vraagstuk. Wetenschappers proberen inzicht te krijgen in de relatie tussen AQI’s en audit quality. Regulators houden zich bezig met de vraag of het wenselijk is om een set van AQI’s verplicht voor te schrijven en daarover transparant te rapporteren.
